Rising proudly at the entrance of Manchester's Chinatown, the ornate archway stands as a vibrant symbol of Chinese heritage and culture. The arch is richly decorated with gold-tipped dragons, colorful carvings, and intricate calligraphy. Imported piece by piece from China and assembled in 1986-1987. Today, it welcomes visitors with a fusion of Eastern artistry and Mancunian pride—an enduring gateway to one of the city's most distinctive and diverse neighborhoods.

It is very cool when you don't know you are about to get to China Town and you find yourself in front of it. It is as in his majesty would like to invite you inside the little chinese streets. The surrounding area is full of Chinese restaurants and not only. And there's a small little patio where you can seat and relax.

Lunar new-year. Dragon procession crowds absolutely huge and walking past the Chinese arch was a virtual standstill. But it was all in good humour and there weren't any problems.

Not only does Manchester has got its Chinatown, it also boasts a Chinese Arch! This adorable addition to the truly multicultural city was assembled by a group of Chinese craftsmen from parts shipped from China and unveiled to the public in 1987. It is decorated with traditional symbols of luck and prosperity: golden and red dragons and phoenixes. It can be seen from either end of Faulkner St, and is particularly impressive in the evening when the entire Chinatown oozes mystery, vice, and the promise of adventure.
